Looks east along Kiahuna Beach from the Sheraton, toward Poʻipū Beach Park.
There's a small free public lot on Hoʻonani Road near the Sheraton, with room for about 7 to 10 cars, and some roadside parking along Hoʻonani Road. Both fill early. The other option is Poʻipū Beach Park's public lot off Hoʻone Road, about a 5-minute walk east. Sheraton, Kiahuna Plantation and Poipu Shopping Village lots are not public beach parking.
Guides say to turn right on Kapili Road at the Sheraton sign, then left on Hoʻonani Road, with the beach on your right. Concrete footways from the end of Hoʻonani Road lead to the sand, near restrooms and a shower in OpenStreetMap. The County has not listed this as a shoreline access, so we haven't confirmed it officially.
No lifeguard. The County of Kauaʻi Ocean Safety Bureau doesn't list a lifeguard tower here.
Nearest lifeguard tower: the Nukumoi tower at Poʻipū Beach Park, about 0.4 miles away in a straight line, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. daily (State list, June 15, 2026).
Kiahuna Beach is a curve of sand on Kauaʻi's South Shore in Poʻipū, west of Poʻipū Beach Park and in front of the Sheraton Kauaʻi and Kiahuna Plantation resorts. The paved end of Hoʻonani Road sits just behind it, and Moir Garden is a short walk inland. Hawaiʻi Place Names describes this stretch of sand as lying between the beach park to the east and the Sheraton to the west.
People come for beginner surf lessons, which several schools run here, and for walks along the shore and sunsets. The reef offshore draws more experienced surfers. There is no lifeguard tower, and guides tell visitors to look at the surf, wind and current before going in. Poʻipū Beach Park, the nearest lifeguarded beach, is a short walk east along the coast.
Kiahuna Beach (also called Kiahuna) is a beach on Kauaʻi’s South Shore, on the south-facing coast. No County lifeguard tower covers it. Its surf follows the National Weather Service forecast for South-facing shores, and its tides follow NOAA’s Nawiliwili station.
The top of this page shows any closure or advisory that the County of Kauaʻi, the State (DLNR) or the Hawaiʻi Department of Health has posted for Kiahuna Beach. We check every 3 hours. If our last check is more than a day old, it says “Status unknown” instead of guessing.
Kiahuna Beach is on Kauaʻi’s South Shore. Its public access point is at GPS 21.87602, -159.45997. Directions in Google Maps. The map on this page shows lots that OpenStreetMap marks as public.
No. Kiahuna Beach has no County lifeguard tower. The nearest guarded beach is the place to ask about conditions.

That changes day to day with the surf, and this site doesn't make that call. Check the South-facing surf range above, any alerts, and a lifeguard at the nearest guarded beach. Hazard ratings for guarded beaches are at safebeachday.com.
