Parking and access
Parking
Free parking inside the County park, along the park road beside the sand and the restrooms. It fills on weekends and busy camping days. Most land around the park is Hawaiian Home Lands homesteads; don't park on residents' lots or driveways.
Getting to the sand
Turn toward the ocean off Kūhiō Highway near mile marker 13. The Anahola Road bridge just before the park entrance has been closed to cars since January 2021 for replacement; the County reached the park by Kukuihale Road during the closure. People on foot can still cross the bridge. From the park, the sand is a few steps away.
Lifeguard
Guarded. The County of Kauaʻi Ocean Safety Bureau staffs a lifeguard tower here.
About Anahola Beach Park
Anahola Beach Park is a 1.5-acre County park at the south end of Anahola Bay on Kauaʻi's East Side, about half a mile off Kūhiō Highway and three miles north of Keālia. It sits in Anahola, the first Hawaiian Home Lands community on Kauaʻi, where Native Hawaiian families received the island's first homestead leases in 1957. The jagged ridge of Kalalea Mountain rises behind the bay, and Anahola Stream crosses the sand north of the park on its way to the sea.
This is a neighborhood park in one of Kauaʻi's most Hawaiian communities, and local families fill it on weekends for picnics, parties and fishing; it has hosted Anahola's Prince Kūhiō Day celebration. Snorkelers explore the reef offshore, bodyboarders and surfers ride the shorebreak toward the north end, and beachcombers walk the long strand past the stream. A County lifeguard tower is staffed daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guides warn of rip currents near the old pier and the stream mouth.
Anahola Beach Park (also called Anahola Beach, Anahola Bay) is a beach on Kauaʻi’s East Side, on the east-facing coast. A County lifeguard tower covers it. Its surf follows the National Weather Service forecast for East-facing shores, and its tides follow NOAA’s Hanamaulu Bay station. Facilities: restrooms.
